AVALON - Live Or Die CD

AVALON from Rochester, New York, are familiar to most metal collectors out there thanks to their debut album, “Live or Die,” which was privately released in 1988 on GFI Records.

“Live or Die” is one of the most sought-after US Metal records, thanks not only to its limited first pressing but also to the quality of the music it contains.

A careful listener can discover a variety of influences on this debut, ranging from European Heavy Metal to the NWOBHM. However, everything is perfectly balanced through the band’s creative prism, resulting in the very distinctive trademark sound of this particular release.

The Arkeyn Steel Records team managed to track down drummer and founding member Lex Dunbar. Together, they worked on the reissue of the “Live or Die” full-length album, now appearing for the first time on CD and including the previously unreleased “Year Of The Pig” album from 1995 as a bonus.

Everything has been remastered from scratch by Kostas Scandalis at Infinity Studio (Thessaloniki, Greece). The booklet includes a complete set of lyrics, along with never-before-seen photos. Lex Dunbar and Chris Papadakis worked on the liner notes, while Kostas Athanasoglou developed the artwork for the CD.

AVALON was, without a doubt, one of the most important bands of the New York heavy metal underground. Their debut release was screaming for a reissue, so here it is!
