STARSTRUCK - Thru' To You Vinyl LP

ORIGINAL RELEASE: 1984!

And again Golden Core dig up a forgotten pearl from the German Metal Underground, even if the word hard rock would be appropriate here as well. In 1984 the band STARSTRUCK from Karlsruhe released their only sign of life: the LP "Thru' To You". This meant that they were not far from GAMA Records, which was based in Kirchheim/Teck and recognized the potential of the locally popular group. The record was recorded at Spygel Studio with engineer Batze Kramer. He has also refined iconic discs from bands like Tyrant, Stormwitch, Bloody Six, Vampyr, Gravestone, Restless or Necronomicon. "Thru' To You" is pure zeitgeist and the cover also fits that, which shows a lot of humor when you look closely.

Karlsruhe, Stuttgart, Heidelberg - melodic heavy metal has always been more popular in this area than in the Ruhr area or in the north. Only Munich was still known for its penchant for AOR. Starstruck cleverly balance the middle ground between heaviness and radio friendliness, which could have been a recipe for success with the well-arranged songs and the playful ability. Unfortunately, the GAMA company was not able to adequately promote the album. After all, it was licensed a year later by Mausoleum (Belgium), and in 1990 it was released on CD for the first time (Aurophon, in the Brainstorm series, which collectors know only too well). You can't get the latter version for less than 70 euros today (see Discogs)...

Golden Core already drew attention to Starstruck in 2021, because they can be found with a track on the compilation "The Best And The Rare Of GAMA Records". For the first time, a remastered version of the iconic album is now available on CD, and later this year on vinyl. Even if the less well-known bands in the GAMA catalog are still ridiculed by some... in recent years, a large fan base has developed in this direction, especially in South America and Eastern Europe, but the hard rocking sound of the eighties is also loved and copied worldwide . Starstruck were right in the middle!
