After the successful 3 CD box set and the LP “Flight Of The Griffin”, Golden Core are now launching the second album by the cult US metal band GRIFFIN on vinyl. While the debut still offers traditional heavy metal in its purest form, the group around the extraordinary singer William McKay tended towards speed and thrash metal, but without losing their trademarks. "Protectors Of The Lair" was released directly by Steamhammer/SPV in 1986, so that the second work was more widespread in Europe than "Flight Of The Griffin" for a few years. Musically they were up to date, but the style can also be described as odd and individual.

The biggest drawback, however, was always the thin sound, which was almost only in the mids and highs. This has now been fixed twice! The rare luck arose that the original 24-track tapes were still available and could be overwritten after a few repairs. So not only a remaster was possible, but a remix that was made by Neudi 2020 and now fills LP 1. The second disc contains the original mix from 1986, but remastered by Patrick Engel (Metal Blade, High Roller, etc.).

In addition to liner notes and photos, the gatefold double LP also contains a leaflet with lyrics. The original cover was restored by Kai Brocks.

As with "Flight Of The Griffin", it is to be expected that the first edition will sell out quickly and a re-press may be delayed.
