VETO from southern Germany started out in the early 1980s as a hard rock band with German lyrics. After several lineup changes and a reorientation towards English-language heavy metal, they landed a record deal with GAMA (label: Scratch). Due to a lack of a drummer, one of the two label bosses, Peter Garattoni, personally took over the position. Their debut album, "Veto," was released in 1986 and was well received by fans and the press. They subsequently played with bands such as Saxon, Vengeance, Lee Aaron, Warlock, Sinner, and Grave Digger. The second album, "Carthago," was recorded in Stuttgart's Zuckerfabrik studio and is now one of the absolute insider tips of the German metal scene. Not only did the band possess outstanding talent, they also impressed with gripping songs that spanned the spectrum of hard rock and speed metal. This was complemented by a crisp and powerful production that many major labels didn't offer at the time. With the title track, "Carthago," VETO created an epic masterpiece.

The announcement of a high-quality re-release of "Carthago" on Golden Core has already stirred up a stir in the metal scene and generated positive reactions on social media. The remastered CD includes the entire debut album, "Veto," as well as the rare and exciting drum solo "Thunderstorm" by Peter Garattoni, which can be found as a Veto song on a now-rare metal compilation from the 1990s. The LP, separately mastered for vinyl, includes two songs from the debut album and "Thunderstorm" as bonus tracks. Both formats include liner notes and many rare illustrations.
