The album 'Cage Company' by the Mannheim band CANARY was released in 1981 and is available today in good condition for no less than 80 euros – if it turns up at all. This is not surprising, as the mixture of hard rock, Krautrock and prog appeals to several target groups...
Not much is known about CANARY, and apparently the most important band member, drummer Klaus Jungmann, passed away in December 2024. Mannheim was a creative hotbed for rock music in the 1970s. Just think of Kin Ping Meh, Twenty Sixty Six And Then, or even the early Joy Fleming. CANARY carried this culture forward into the early 1980s. They signed a contract with the SriLanca label (also known as SL Records), which belonged to GAMA Musikverlag. This, in turn, emerged from the milieu of the group Eulenspygel. Achim Bosch's 'Cage Company' was recorded at Spygel Studio between December 1980 and March 1981. Unfortunately, the newly founded SriLanca label did not have the budget to adequately promote the LP and distribute it widely to stores. As a result, 'Cage Company' became an insider tip and a rarity. Golden Core is making this sophisticated album available again in a restored and remastered version. The booklet, or LP inlay, contains scans/images of the original LP from 1981.
