Formed in 1987 in Carlsbad, New Mexico, MAX TRIXI arose from the ashes of several failed musical projects, to forge a distinctive sound that evolved from keyboard-driven hard rock to a raw, hard-hitting heavy metal edge. Originally comprised of Mike Lariviere, Java Valenzuela, Kathi Young, and Kenney Young, the band transitioned when Kathi took over lead vocals, steering MAX TRIXI toward a heavier, more dynamic style. Their early recordings, captured on cassette at Reese Lucas’ local studio in Carlsbad and later at No Mountain Studios in Midland, Texas, showcased their fervent energy and dedication to their craft.

In August 1990, MAX TRIXI relocated to Austin, Texas, chasing bigger opportunities in the city’s vibrant music scene. Though financial constraints forced Mike and Java to depart after just six weeks, Kathi and Kenney persevered, recruiting bassist Jimmy Stewart and drummer Buzz Brument to complete the lineup. The revitalized band became a staple in Austin’s iconic venues, delivering electrifying performances until their eventual breakup in late 1991.

Now, decades later, MAX TRIXI are pleased to announce the vinyl release of their long-forgotten album “One More Try” originally recorded in late 1989/early 1990 and made available only on cassette. Thanks to advances in audio technology, these cherished recordings have been meticulously remastered to capture the band’s gritty, soulful essence. “One More Try” is a testament to band’s toughness, raw talent, and unyielding passion for music a nostalgic yet timeless collection that invites longtime fans and new listeners alike to experience their powerful sound.

Coming soon on limited-edition vinyl, “One More Try” is a must-have for collectors and enthusiasts of female-fronted heavy metal, and for anyone still searching for the authentic spirit of late ‘80s and early ‘90s metal.
