MARQUIS DE SADE - Somewhere Up In The Mountain MCD

The reunited NWOBHM band MARQUIS DE SADE is back with a very special gem. Their comeback album "Chapter II" (Golden Core/ZYX) was already met with widespread acclaim, especially since the partly epic song material is of interest not only to metalheads, but also to fans of bands like Magnum. This resulted in numerous gigs in their homeland of England and a slot at the prestigious Keep It True Festival, where they consistently delivered a convincing performance.

"Somewhere Up In The Mountains," side A of the rare 1981 single, has emerged as a NWOBHM hit in recent years. It has been covered by bands like Roxxcalibur and Dragon's Kiss and is constantly shared on social media. The epic nature of the song, which was still very basic, even primitive, in 1981, prompted the idea of ​​recording an orchestrated version, as a kind of update and alternative to the original.

The result is astonishing and demonstrates just how "great" the song truly is. Even the original B-side, "Black Angel," considerably heavier than "Somewhere...", works in this soundscape. Here, the band and orchestra play together, not side by side, as is often the case with such projects.

A new version cannot and should not replace the original. Therefore, the extended EP also features the two original versions of the ultra-rare 1981 single. These were restored and remastered by Patrick Engel.
