ANGEL KILLER - Hard Rock City Demo 1985 LP + CDr

Rare French Demos Series - Vol. 3.

Formed in 1982 in Saint-Quentin, Aisne, by Yves Malezieux, Angel Killer quickly made a name for themselves in the French hard rock scene. After an initial five-track demo and opening slots for Stocks, the band solidified its definitive lineup in 1984 with the arrival of Thierry “Pitt” Boudart on drums and Freddy on guitar. This allowed Malezieux to focus entirely on lead guitar, performing alongside Stéphane on bass and Gilles Pavot on vocals. This era marked their peak, earning them local recognition, a feature in Metal Attack #14, and high-profile opening slots for bands like Vulcain and Attentat Rock.

During this period, the group recorded their second "proper" demo, consisting of an intro and eight tracks. Throughout 1985, they continued to climb the ranks by sharing stages with legendary acts such as Rozz, ADX, Satan Jokers, and Blaspheme. However, the band’s momentum was cut short in 1986 when mandatory military service forced them to disband. Aside from a brief two-show reunion in Saint-Quentin and Laon in the late '80s, the members moved on to other projects. Thierry Boudart played in bands like Scherzo and Baboon Scream, while Yves Malezieux joined ADX under the alias "Louis XV" before forming Search in the mid-90s.

Years later, the band's 1985 manager, Eric Maggiacomo, facilitated a revival by connecting with Steel Shark Records. This reissue features the 1984 demo, sourced and digitized from the original Ampex master tapes which remained in perfect condition. To round out the release, the label included bonus tracks taken from two rehearsal sessions and various live recordings. The music is described as authentic early '80s hard rock defined by catchy riffs and strong songwriting.
